Trying to hitch a ride to our site, near Karkardooma Court, was definitely a task in spite of the site being a few kilometers away from the metro station. The Delhi auto wallahs were being their usual deceitful selves, until I chanced upon a wizened old man on his rickshaw. I asked him to take me to Karkardooma Court. Well once I got near the site, I realized that the huge size of the drain could be problematic to work with. Complicating the matters was the span of solid waste choking the drain.
The site itself has lot of potential due to the existing vegetation along the banks which may be ideal for treating the water flowing along in the drain. However, access to the drain even for the purpose of sampling the water could be an uphill task due the inclined embankments created along the drain.
The whole length of the drain is flanked by vegetation, interspersed with chirping birds of different species. One of the prettiest sites I’ve chanced upon so far, but this would definitely be something we would move to the TO DO LATER list.
